A quilt for a friend

Justin and I met when I was 14 and he was only 12 years old.  I was actually dating his brother, and we both mercilessly picked on Justin for only being twelve, not a teenager and nowhere near as cool as we were.  We were the worst, to be honest, but it was just so funny to pick on him.  However much we picked on him, I did find myself hanging out with Justin probably more than his brother.  I’d help him play Zelda and we’d watch Star Trek, we were buddies.

(While putting this slideshow together, I think it’s funny I have more pictures of Justin with Dax than pictures of Justin with me!)

While that relationship burned out, my friendship with Justin kept on for many years.  We had jobs together, he was even with me when I met my husband!  We were the very best friends.  We did eventually have a bit of a falling out, but we’ve picked our friendship right back up in recent years.

I attended his wedding to his beautiful wife, Kelli, and they are about to welcome their second child!  I really wanted to send them something special, so I got to work with some fabric I bought about three years ago (I couldn’t resist) and viola!

I wanted to do something simple but still very sweet.  I also took a shot at hand embroidering a little monogrammed tag.  How nice I must be, hand binding is hard enough on my hands, and I also hand stitched a little tag!

This is most of what I’ve been up to lately.  I took the day off today but tomorrow it’s back at it.  I know as a book keeper this is the least fun time of year, so my blogs may be a little scarce.  Just a warning!  I’ll be here, just probably quietly sewing away to calm my brain.

Also!  Cute Fluffin Stitch has gotten it’s first confirmed craft fair for 2016!  May 7th we’ll be at Track One in downtown Nashville.  If you’re familiar with the Porter Flea, it’s in the same location.

What have you been up to?  Let me know!  Until next time, happy sewing!
