A look at the book Jo’s Little Favorites II available May 2!

Jo’s little Favorites II is (obviously) a sequel to Jo’s little Favorites which was released last year.  After the great success Jo Morton got from that, she went back and found more small quilt patterns that you can make using fat quarters and scraps.  And y’all know how much I love a good fat quarter pattern!

I like a lot of these quilt patterns, but I have to say that I also really enjoy the staging of all of these quilts.  I know that’s funny to say, but they all have a very sweet, country vibe to them and they all look so cozy and nice.  It could give you a few ideas of your own for staging quilt pictures!

I really appreciate how clearly all of the directions, materials lists, cutting and piecing instructions are laid out.  They are VERY easy to understand, and the diagrams really lay them out if you are more of a visual learner like me.  There are also quilting directions to take into consideration to finish the quilt off the way that they are in the finished quilt pictures.  It’s almost exclusively a diagonal cross hatch, but there are some more specific quilting suggestions on other quilts.

These quilt patterns are for small quilts; mostly square quilts under a yard square.  However, I don’t think it would be difficult to make more blocks and “grow” these quilts if you desired.  These quilts are also all made in more traditional quilt fabrics; lots of civil war colors, but again, these patterns are so sweet that just choosing a color scheme you like (hey, maybe I’m the only one who doesn’t love Civil War type prints) to make these quilts a little more your own.

I’ve decided to make an example out of one of these patterns, Foursquare.  This is made out of a little over three total yards of fabric, back included. (yep!)  I’m actually making this a little taller, but the original pattern measures out at 27″ x 31″. Here is a little look at my progress on this quilt after just about​ two hours (including cutting) using a couple of fat eighths.
