April showers bring…rain. Just rain! :D

So I wanted this blog to be a tutorial on quilted bags, but that may wait until next week.  I am very excited though because I finished my bag for myself!!

Love my bag 😀

It’s so cute!  And light!  And holds all my stuff!!  I’m in love with my precious bag!

Anyhow, I’m having a splendid day over here.  My friend bought one of my bags, which makes me very happy.  If you saw the blue and white bag on my etsy page, it is gone now!  Off to a happy home!  Don’t worry, I can make at least one more!  Maybe two, I can’t recall right off.  My eldest sister is coming to visit this weekend, so we’re planning a trip to the zoo and stuff with her kids.  So that’ll be fun too!

I’ve also been working on some Alabama bags for my shop.  If a certain little puppy would stop crying for me to stop sewing so he can just sit on me (yes, the struggle is real.) then it would have been finished two days ago.  All my parts are cut out, just waiting to be put together.  Anyhow, that’s really all that’s going on over here.  Just making bags, mentally trying to fix that quilt binding, trying to convince Al that I’m pulling his weight by selling bags so he doesn’t have to work.

“Oh, you want to sew?? I’m going to whimper and look at you with sad eyes until you stop.”

Until next time, happy sewing!

Super Cute Baby Quilt

I managed to finish up my baby quilt top before my quilt guild meeting on Saturday, and of course!  I was so happy we had show and tell!  And I got to show off my “hard work!”  Okay it wasn’t really hard at all; it was more ‘hey, just sit here and sew these little strips to these squares, stop doing other things.’  I love show and tell…in my head it’s intimidating and I’m like “holy crap, they are amazing and I just sewed some crap together” but in real life it’s like “oh wow we all sew and we’re all good.”

I’m excited because it’s starting to look like this quilt MAY ACTUALLY BE FINISHED!  Soon anyway.  I sandwiched my batting and backing, and I got all my quilting done, and now…I’ve got all my binding pinned on!!!  Oh yea, it’s getting pretty serious.  Binding is probably my least favorite part of making quilts, but I know once I get the hang of it that it will be just fine.  I’m also starting to think maybe I should just suck it up and make my own binding instead of buying those pre made, pre folded things of quilt binding.

Anyhow, I hope you guys are all having a nice week!

Until next time, happy sewing!

One down, one to go, one on the way, three bags total!

As my instagram followers saw, I got my fabric Friday, and I got to work!!  I followed the video, and stopped for a taco bell run, but I finished the bag!  This one is going to my mom, but I’ve been “testing” it.  What, I don’t want to give my mom a bad bag!  I gotta make sure it works good! 😉

So here’s a breakdown (minus taco bell) of my Friday night in pictures.

I was so excited I didn’t even take a picture of it still wrapped up!

The strips sewn together (oh my goodness there’s bras on this bag, lord have mercy!)

What I used for the lining, the pocket and the straps. So vibrant!!! So pretty!!!

All finished! So happy! Oh and there’s me upside down in the door knob.

Yes, I’ve been rocking this since Saturday. I think I need one for myself.

It was so fun to make!  I did one thing different from the tutorial; I used felt instead of batting.  It was easier to work with and more sturdy. I really like it, and now someone I know is asking for a variation of this for a diaper bag!!  I’m thrilled!  And I have her fabric ordered (Bluebird Park by Kate and Birdie and Aqua blue Kona solid) so now I wait til it comes in!!! (Fabric Friday anyone?!)

Until next time, happy sewing!
