Improvements have been made!
Hi! This was the first weekend this month that wasn’t already pre scheduled with something to do, so I obviously scheduled some things. I took Al to PetSmart to get groomed (worth it’s weight in gold BTW) and got something to help with my Secret Santa Sew project (so secretive!) and I also got something to deal with my sewing room closet. YES!
You read that right. I’m finally doing it.
I would have done this sooner but I got a serious case of the sniffles about a week ago PLUS it’s an insanely busy time for me at work. Sorry for the delay! 😀
So here it is!!
A few of my favorite things:
Right now, I’m working on getting some delayed projects knocked out, so surely I’ll have some things to blog about! I’m also trying to build up some store stock. I’ve got some infinity scarves in the works, and then I’ve got some wallets to get going. I’m also adding on to a quilt that I made for my niece a few years ago. I’ve got a lot to keep me busy!
Until next time! Happy sewing!
I’m the worst right now. My sewing room is all painted (thank god) after some smooth negotiations with my husband, that I would make dinner and he would paint it instead of the other way around, especially since, I decided I was going to edge the room myself and I was doing fine, until I fell out of the chair! And now I have a bruise in a really odd place. I can’t take a picture of it, but it does look much better as of this morning. I think I’ll be able to keep my leg. 🙂 Anyhow, it’s all painted and this weekend I should spend putting everything where it should go and making everything so fancy and great, but instead I’m going to the Nashville Boat Show. I won some tickets on the radio, so instead of organizing and hanging my little shelf, planning wall, cute pictures, etc, I’m going to look at boats and a water skiing squirrel. Yes. Water skiing squirrel. Named Twiggy.
I know, totally worth it.
I do plan on working on my room tonight, so I’m not entirely the absolute worst. 🙂 I did get some progress going. I made my ironing board table, which isn’t pwrfect but with the limited resources I had I think it’s great.
I just slapped some elastic band on some fabric I got over 2 years ago that I just needed so bad and have yet to use, put some scrap batting under that, and voila! So now I just need to get everything back out of the closet and moved where it belongs…then I can do my before and after!!! OMG I bet you thought I forgot! I didn’t! An elephant never forgets! *insert elephant noise*
Hopefully I’ll get a good jump on organizing and putting away and general making things pretty in there tonight, then I’ll get to work! And maybe…dare I say it…I might sew!!! \ 😀 /
Until next time, Happy Sewing!
As I think I mentioned before, at some point we are moving. We’re doing all sorts of decluttering and packing up right now to get our house ready to go on the market, and we’re hunting down houses like crazy. This is nothing new to us; we’ve lived in 3 states and countless apartments, and now our house, in our 8 years together. We know how to move.
However, this time feels different. I am excited about the prospect of buying what could possibly be our last home. I’m excited about taking another step up in our lives, setting up our house with more than 1,000 square feet to work with, not being on top of our neighbors, having a place for little baby Dax when he (or she! who knows!) decides to come along in the future. If I’m just being completely honest here, I’m probably most excited about setting up my sewing room.
My sewing room now is our spare bedroom. There is a full sized bed in there and a dresser, which doesn’t sound like a big deal, but they are the bane of my existence. Sure, the bed is great for taking a break from sewing and perusing through Pinterest or checking Twitter (which I’m terrible at doing, by the way. #1 worst tweeter, right here. I mostly just retweet.) Besides that, my sewing room doesn’t have a ceiling light, and there isn’t much in the way of natural light except during a few hours in the morning. I have a lot of lamps, which actually make it hard to tell what time it is, and then you end up staying up until 11pm on a Wednesday working on a bag, and then you’re so wired when it’s done you decide it’s a good idea to watch an episode of Dexter. Sure you finished it, and Dexter is never a bad idea, but all Thursday you’re barely awake. I haven’t even gotten to the best part; the whole room is yellow. I mean, Big bird would be invisible in this room. YELLOW. When we moved in the entire house was yellow, and when were painting and got to that room we just said “let’s leave it that way just as a reminder.” So low light + yellow walls = everything in there looks odd and I have to find another room to take pictures of things. Even with my little lightbox things have a yellow tinge.
So I’ve been working on some sketches of how I want my sewing room laid out. I know once I get in there it’ll change about 100 times and I’ll keep moving things around, but I want to get an idea of how I’d like to imagine it anyhow. It’s a little difficult since we haven’t really found “the one” house and I can’t be 100% about dimensions, doors, windows, etc.
Anyhow! I hope everyone’s had a nice week! I know I’m looking forward to the weekend!
Until next time! Happy sewing!
